If I change the modifier keys in System Preferences then when do these changes take effect? Do I have to reboot for them to take effect? Why does Monterey not recognise the keyboard as “K780”? If I change the keyboard to “K780” the Option key is set to command and the command key is set to Option but this change makes no difference to how the keys behave. For this keyboard the modifier keys are Option set to Option and Command set to Command. I have looked at Keyboard and Modifier keys in System Preferences and see that the keyboard is set to “bluetooth USB host controller” both after re-boot and after login after timeout. However if I then leave the iMac and keyboard switched on for a while and allow the iMac login to time out and then login again the prior option key acts like Command and the prior command key acts like Option. After a reboot the key to the left of the space bar acts like the command key and the key to the left of that acts like the Option key which is what I want. I am running Monterey 12.0.1 on my 2018 Intel iMac using a Logitech K780 bluetooth keyboard with VO set up to speak during iMac boot to enter my login password.
